A guided tour of the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways’ Boston Lodge Works and Depot for 2.

A tour by Andy Savage who worked on the Ffestiniog since 1968, and was a director for many years, rising to be Deputy Chairman of the Festiniog Railway Company. Andy will explain the history of the works, from its earliest days in 1807 to the current development programmes.

What's Included in the Tour
Old locomotive shed, now used to store historic locomotives and carriages.
Top yard site of the 1807 works with information on the newly awarded £4m NLHF-funded programme of restoration. 
Main erecting/machine shops, the only railway to build steam engines in the 19th, 20th and 21st century worldwide.
The carriage works, where modern and replica carriages are built, and the’ fleet of over 60 carriages is overhauled. 
Locomotive running shed, with an explanation of the proposed developments in this area.
Tour the existing and recently extended carriage shed.
A scheduled ‘Experience’ package on the train, as a guest of the railway.

Compliance with Ff&WHR safety protocols – safety footwear (not provided) is essential for the tour.
Ff&WHR will provide PPE.
Regrettably it is not possible to accommodate wheelchairs on the tour.
